How Low Will Mortgage Rates Go

Submitted by Peter Toner on Friday, 19 December 2008No Comment

In 37 years Freddie Mac’s 30-year fixed rate mortgage has not been as low as it is now, period. How’d it happen? Decline How Low Will Mortgage Rates GoWhen the Fed’s cut the federal funds rate down to zero it simultaneously led Freddie Mac’s rate to plunge to 5.17%. Just a year ago that same rate was 6.14 percent. If you can swing a 15 year fixed loan the rate currently is at 4.92 percent.

So San Diego, just how low will mortgage rates go? Hard to say, but right now they are looking pretty good!
