The Union Tribune’s June 10th edition reported that Academic Analytics, the only company to have a completely quantitative measure of academic quality, ranked SDSU as one of the top small research universities in the nation. SDSU ranked above 60 other universities based on faculty productivity.
Productivity is based on the amount of publications completed by faculty members, citations in scholarly journals, allotted research grants and honorary awards received by the faculty. A university is considered to have a “small” research ranking when it has 14 or fewer doctoral programs. Although SDSU is considered to be in the small research category, it has approximately 800 ongoing research studies.
The types of studies vary greatly from researching how to help the heart recover after a major heart attack to responses to natural disasters and ways to protect homeland security at its borders. SDSU is already a highly sought after college to attend, this outstanding achievement is sure to increase potential student interest.
