Did you know that Oceanside now has another new zip code? Effective this past June 30th, 2007 the zip code 92054 was split into a new zip code 92058. There is not a lot of information you kind find on the web about it other than the announcement made on the US Postal Service’s website.
We sure didn’t see it on the news either, but it has happened and is already in effect. The postal service has divided the 92054 zip code in order to expedite mail sorting. The USPS’s website states that the new zip code will cover 15,192 delivery locations.
There is a temporary transition period being allowed for up to 12 months to all those who reside or have businesses located in the area affected by the new zip code. This new zip code covers the area that is bordered on the west by Interstate 5; on the south by Mission Ave; on the east by North Douglas Drive; and on the north by Camp Pendleton.
Of course, the post office requests that the new zip code is being used as soon as possible so that mail sorting can be done in a more effective and timely manner.
